The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will help Badger Meter Manufacturing Engineering Department to continue to document and improve the calibration lab processes and equipment. Other areas are to investigate and execute the calibration process, including setup reduction, data approval, and report generation. Additionally, the intern can conduct time study and process mapping methodologies to help improve efficiencies. Instructions and documentation are needed to improve the calibration technician skill sets, processes, and equipment. The importance of this is to ensure procedures are followed, which will improve quality and thru-put. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be working “hands-on” in a shop environment and must be able to lift 40lbs., will be exposed to manufacturing cells and calibration fluids. They will work with a variety of people from calibration technicians, supervisors, and engineers. This position will be responsible for: Documenting, conducting time studies, and process mapping methodologies to help improve efficiencies in the calibration lab. Work with documenting and improving processes. Work hands on in a calibration lab environment, developing a clear understanding of the entire process. Time study and process mapping methodologies. Outcomes: Week 3 Understand and perform “Hands-on” calibration process from set up to data approval. Week 6 Documented time study and process mapping methodologies Week 12 Clear understanding of the process improvement methods and a list of accomplishments obtained during the internship.
