SUMMARY  :  An internship position in the area of data analysis in a challenging engineering environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   include the following.  Other duties may be assigned: Under the direction of the quality and production staff performs various data analysis and reporting tasks including but not limited to: Assists with predictive modelling and forecasting tasks. Conduct data profiling analyses to ensure data quality. Build web application reporting tools using R Shiny and ggplot2. Develops documentation for products/processes released to stakeholders. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  : Must possess strong communication, computer, and problem solving skills. Prefer strong programming skills with experience in R, Python, VBA, and/or Matlab.  Knowledge of SQL is a plus. Must be proficient in the use of MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is also desired.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  :   The individual must be pursuing a BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field and shall have achieved junior status or higher. The individual shall also have completed the "core" coursework for his/her chosen discipline.   COMPUTER SKILLS  :   Solid computer skills consistent with the position requirements to include, Windows office, Excel, and Lotus Notes.   LANGUAGE SKILLS  :   The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  :  Knowledge of regression analysis, multivariate analysis, network analysis, and their applications. The ability to choose the right mathematical or statistical methods to solve problems in data mining, predictive modelling, and image processing. REASONING ABILITY  :  Ability to correctly make decisions involving issues/ problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior consultant PHYSICAL DEMANDS  :  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls’ reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
