The APS Trading Floor ensures that APS customers are provided with the most economical sources of energy by analyzing real-time market conditions and company generating resources. As a Power Marketing & Trading Intern, you will work on projects that may involve the development of new models, analyses, and processes for the energy trading or fuel procurement and management functions. Analytics, Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance or similar degrees are a good fit for this role. Intern duties may include the following: Performs data analysis, and develops plans as required, to meet the trading needs in the areas of power, natural gas, transmission, and renewables Assist in maintaining and supporting all Marketing and Trading floor department programs, tools, and software. Develop and use modeling techniques to assist in projecting system load based on weather and temperature Use and develop processes to match the most economical APS power generation resources to meet customer demand Analyze market conditions (for fuel, energy) and develop tools to facilitate purchase and sale of energy to meet system needs and generate cost savings (profit) Monitor real-time system dashboards and analyze on-line generation to ensure sufficient system operation reserves are maintained Assist as a key resource in developing or documenting processes to assist in on-going strategic efforts in the Marketing and Trading functions GENERAL INTERN SUMMARY: Acquires broad experience in practicing and learning business, engineering, information systems fundamentals in real work settings. Intern assignment is for a short, temporary period of time. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate degree program. Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training. Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. This is a condition of employment at PVNGS. Roles and Responsibilities defined in Policy 1503 and implementing policy guide are applicable to all PVNGS employees. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies. Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations. Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments. Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments. Performs other related duties as required.
