Student Internship 2021 - Manufacturing & Engineering – Technical Expertise and Support - Mechanical Reliability Improvement

We are looking for you, an ambitious Student (m/f), to support our Maintenance and productivity department by doing an internship project in Reliability Improvement for our location in Barry, Wales

The TES maintenance and productivity department supports the manufacture of a range of Silicone Products in a complex and technically challenging manufacturing environment. 

Project description 

  • A unique opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of mechanical and reliability engineering encompassing both static and rotating equipment, and in specific projects to improve maintenance strategies and overall equipment reliability performance.

  • You will be an active member in site teams working to improve rotating equipment reliability though advanced condition monitoring programs and in partnership with third party suppliers on seal life improvement activities.

  • You will gain experience in RCM based FMEA techniques to support development & implementation of Equipment Reliability Strategies.

  • Investigate, interrogate and analyze equipment performance data to provide input to root cause investigations and to take actions to close identified performance gaps.

  • You will support teams across the site to troubleshoot problem equipment and to optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Lead projects identified on the site reliability opportunity portfolio, with an opportunity to work with other disciplines and subject matter experts in development and implementation of solutions.

  • You will also learn how to utilize Dow’s engineering standards and SME network. 

Qualifications 

  • You are currently pursuing your degree equivalent in Mechanical (or similar discipline) Engineering.

  • You have a good working knowledge of English.

  • You are computer literate and have a good working knowledge of typical Microsoft office software (word, excel etc.). 

You can start between June and Aug 2021 for a period of 12 months (exact timing to be discussed).
