This is a summer 2021 intern position (start date in May or June 2021) that supports the Aerojet Rocketdyne engineering group (Chemistry Lab) at our Camden, AR facility.

Under direct supervision, the Intern - Engineering (Chem Lab) position performs professional work following a set of policies and procedures for guidance. This position requires some professional judgment and a limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Performs chemical analyses, routine syntheses, tests, and experiments where procedures are well established. Completes documentation and writes test reports to document findings.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
  •  90% - Perform analyses and maintain test equipment.
  • 10% - Maintain laboratory records.


Must be actively pursuing a BS or MS degree in Chemistry or other related science/discipline, and returning to school following the internship. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, as well as technical and analytical abilities.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Software application.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a self starter and have the ability to work with little direction.
  • Solid academic track record of accomplishment.
  • Leadership skills.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
