HackerOne, the global leader in Hacker-Powered security, is looking for two interns to join us in Autumn 2020 (September 2020 - January 2021) in our Groningen Office (or remote, depending on COVID-19). Must be able to work 32-40 hours a week and be located in EMEA. 

As a software engineer intern, you will spend anywhere between 3-6 months working on one of our two special projects (as detailed below). 

You will work closely with a software engineer mentor that has been assigned to you and they will be your main source of technical help and support for the duration of your internship. Along with your mentor, you will also be assigned to work under the supervision of an engineering manager, who will be there to support your journey at HackerOne - anything from engineering topics to project management to personal development. Additionally, you will also have the opportunity to utilize a product manager assigned to work with you, to help you figure out prioritization, feasibility, deadlines, etc. And should you need it, we have designers to help prettify your frontend work and have it ready to be productized.
Special Project 1: Asset Discovery Lite
  • We are looking to build out a tool to help our customers discover their public-facing assets so that hackers can start testing them. Assets could be websites, domains, subdomains, IoT devices, etc. This helps our customers to deal with a continuously evolving attack surface and will keep them more secure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Attending their 3rd or final year in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related technical field
  • Ability to work in CET (Dutch) working hours.
  • Available to work full-time for a minimum of 14 weeks.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
  • Experience in writing real-world applications in any major programming language.
  • Experience and/or interest in cybersecurity and bug-bounty topics.
  • Preferably has done an internship before at a company

Special Project 2: Machine-learning Driven Automation

  • HackerOne is at the bleeding edge of hacker-powered security. We deal in vast amounts of data - and we now want to begin using that data to intelligently automate some of our manual workflows. Examples include automated duplicate detection of reports, improved hackbot to provide a variety of other services. improved triggers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Attending their final year in a Bachelor's degree OR any year in a Graduate Degree (Masters/Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related technical field
  • Ability to work in CET (Dutch) working hours.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
  • Experience in writing real-world applications in any major programming language.
  • Passionate about artificial intelligence and machine learning.
  • Preferably has done an internship before at another company
  • Experience with solving real-world problems using machine learning and artificial intelligence preferred.
