Description

We have an immediate need for a student internship in our Golden, Colorado office. The position would be full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer, and half-time (20 hours per week) during the school year. The intern will be supporting work in the area of Fuel Cell Manufacturing R&D for the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Program, on the topic of in-line quality control techniques for the manufacture of clean energy materials. Work w ill include developing real-time, non-destructive inspection techniques for fuel cell, battery, and other related materials, using optical and infrared imaging. Techniques will be developed and validated using cell materials from industry partners or fabricated in-house. Additional activities may include cell fabrication and characterization, data analysis, and results reporting..

Basic Qualifications

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: You will need to upload unofficial transcripts and a letter of recommendation as part of the application process.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated laboratory experience (e.g., successful completion of college level lab courses).

  • Techniques will be developed and validated using cell materials from industry partners or fabricated in-house.

  • Understanding the effect of technique parameters, components and configuration on detection of defects and variations of interest is a key aspect of the work.

  • Additional activities may include cell fabrication and characterization, data analysis, and results reporting.

  • Basic principles of laboratory safety must be adhered to and specific procedures for safe operation of equipment must be followed. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electrochemistry, chemistry, or other relevant discipline.
  • Prior experience with real-time imaging, infrared or optical, data acquisition and processing.
