Your Role and Responsibilities
As part of the Research team you will be expected to:
a) define and execute your own research plan that aligns with IBM's research strategy and with the aims of the industrial research challenges we are given;
b) work independently to deliver on your plan as well as collaborative as part of a team;
c) lead other researchers to deliver on the team's goals;
d) collaborate with researchers from other organizations;
e) collaborate with employees of the industrial organizations that set the research challenges; e) publish your research as papers or posters;
f) attend conference and workshops in the UK and in other countries;
g) write software;
h) take responsibility for non-research activities such as outreach, internships, website development or business development;
i) write research grant proposals;
j) provide weekly status to management and monthly status to VP level;
k) produce high quality demonstrators of your research;
l) support the other functions of the team such as business development and communications when required.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Postdoctoral level knowledge in one of the following areas; genomics, artificial intelligence, computational fluid dynamics or healthy aging. At least 1 years industrial post doctor experience working in a small to medium sized research team. Experience of writing and presenting papers at an international conference. Ability to develop software in at least 1 programming language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience of working collaborative with at least 1 University or Research Institute. Experience using a high performance computing cluster. Knowledge of Linux or other operating language. Knowledge of one scripting language such as Perl or Bash.
