Role Summary:

The Data Science & Analytics Intern will give to the development and deployment of modern machine learning, operational research, semantic analysis, and statistical methods for finding structure in large data sets. This position may either be located in Austin, TX or Cincinnati, OH. Join a team with varied strengths and grow!

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • In this role, the Data Science & Analytics Intern will perform exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other machine learning methods such as classification (supervised learning), clustering or association (unsupervised learning) or deep learning/AI (neural network). This includes feature extraction, real time analytics methods, in addition to analytic prototyping, scaling and solutions integration. Work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics. Generate reports, annotated code, and other projects artifacts to document, archive, and communicate your work and outcomes. Share and discuss findings with team members. Work alongside software developers and software engineers to translate validated algorithms into commercially viable products and services. Work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics. 


  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university Degree focused in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar

  • Minimum cumulative or in-major 3.2/4.0 GPA Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship. Graduating between December 2020 – June 2022

  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States is required. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324 b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment. 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven awareness of feature extraction and real-time analytics methods

  • Demonstrated awareness of analytic prototyping, analytic scaling, and solutions integration

  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom

  • A strong dedication to a career in Data Science

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly

  • Shown creative problem solving and proactive learning
