Description

The position will provide opportunities to develop materials testing skills and assist in a technical laboratory environment.  Familiarity with the following would be advantageous but not required. 

Position Responsibilities:

  •  Preparation of specimens for failure analysis and metallography using automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Image analysis, digital imaging, and optical microscopy.
  • Testing using equipment such as Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers hardness, spectroscopy, and density.
  • Working with diverse materials such as iron, steel, aluminum, platings, polymers, elastomers, and oils.
  • Working with diverse processes such as forming, heat treating, welding, coating/plating.
  • Utilizing testing equipment such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, etc. for polymer and organic materials.
  • Performing and evaluating non-destructive tests.
  • Data collection, interpretation, and report writing.
  • Laboratory maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all TS16949 policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  •  Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field (preferably Chemical Engineering or Materials Science).
  • Advanced reading, mathematical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to learn and use product specific calculation software.
  • Proficiency with computers and various software applications.
  • Good interpersonal, planning and organizational skills. 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Chemical or Materials engineering and technical skills while working towards a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Materials laboratory testing experience.
