Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our creative team of engineers performing engineering research, design, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of various program areas. The candidate hired for this position will work alongside experience goal-oriented and creative engineers on real-world assignments.

The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. Tasks could include supporting mechanical design, structural / dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, materials science and processes, mechanical testing, as well as other departments. The candidate should expect to learn many facets of the aerospace industry, and will leave this position with invaluable skills and engineering knowledge.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in an accredited college pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • Strong desire to perform in a fast paced, dynamic organization, and working in an inclusive team environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Candidate should be able to obtain a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • The candidate should have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Candidate has education and exposure to one or more of the following areas:

  • 3D CAD software designing structures ranging from straightforward components through intricate mechanisms.
  • Stress and dynamic analysis software on rudimentary structural components through more complex mechanical systems.
  • Thermal and/or fluids analysis software on solutions ranging from simple to multifaceted mechanical design.
  • Materials development and hardware testing to determine mechanical properties, material behavior, or structural performance.
