Students in this position will work as part of a product R&D engineering team located in the Dallas/Irving/Coppell area that is responsible for new product development of next generation wireless infrastructure hardware for Small Cell and 5G cellular products. The Electro-Mechanics (Emech) team focuses on the design, integration, and verification of 5G Radio products mechanical, thermal dissipation, and environmental protections designs
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Work will primarily be in supporting the Emech team in design and laboratory/test environment and intern should be comfortable with the practical and theoretical aspects of electromechanical design, heat transfer, and simulation tools (CAD/CFD)
Interns will assist engineers with verification of new product design and testing and debugging 5G prototype HW.
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student for Fall 2020
- Must be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college/university.
- Intern should be familiar with creating content in Microsoft Office apps including Word and Excel and exhibit good verbal and written communication skills.
- All staff are expected to adhere to Nokia engineering processes, including the maintenance of accurate documentation.
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
Theoretical and practical understanding of mechanical design with emphasis on electronics packaging, electro-magnetic compatibility, heat transfer, and environmental protection
Theoretical and practical understanding of mechanical and environmental testing
Experience with CAD tools – preferably PTC Creo
Experience with CFD Simulation tools – preferably Icepak or Flotherm
