Eligibility: Our next internship program runs through the summer of 2020. We’re looking for students who are working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent), and due to complete their studies and be available for a full time graduate role commencing in the summer of 2021. 

Department overview 

The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform puts quality, audited data at the centre of customer’s organisations. Its solutions build gold copy masters across all data types, delivering tangible data governance, risk management and compliance frameworks and rationalising legacy architectures. The EDM platform is the central core for all transactions, securities, prices, rates, counterparty and issuer data. EDM empowers those who understand the data to manage the data, no matter the complexity, volume or scope of the project. 

The role

As an Intern with IHS Markit, you will undertake work on a real business project intended to add value to the team as well as provide you with a great learning opportunity. In addition, you will take responsibility for daily tasks similar to those a permanent employee would perform, which will provide you with the opportunity to see how a career within the Enterprise Data Management team will start. 

Opportunities within the stream are within the Global Enterprise Data Management Support team in both Managed Services and Global Support based in the Manchester Office. These roles are dynamic and provide an opportunity to work as part of a global support team, solving the data management issues of global top tier financial institutions. You may find yourself with duties like:

  • Investigating, reproducing and resolving customer issues including advising on workarounds and identifying issue for fixing by the development team
  • A first line support which includes responding to telephone and online support queries
  • Interacting with clients and colleagues to ensure accurate and timely information flows
  • Participating in the set up and management of hosted client EDM environments
  • Investigating and document existing procedures and make recommendations for improvements
  • Configuring Markit EDM application to meet client specifications
  • Interacting with clients and colleagues to ensure accurate and timely information flows
  • Participating in the set up and management of client’s hosted EDM environment
  • Supporting, monitoring and troubleshooting the client’s environment 

What we're looking for 

We seek candidates with diverse backgrounds and ideas with a desire to learn and thrive. To be considered for this opportunity, candidates should demonstrate the following education, skills, eligibility and experience: 

Business Competencies

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree (or equivalent) completing no later than September 2021 in computer science or equivalent
  • This program is aimed at students with 0-6 months relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in SQL is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Data Base management using MS SQL Server and/or Oracle would be beneficial
  • Appreciation of the Project Management and Project Lifecycle
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012/2014 experience
  • Interest in Cloud operations (AWS technologies such as EC2, technologies)
  • Commercial awareness
  • An interest in the financial markets would be advantageous

The EDM support team is made up of many talented people based in offices throughout the world who all work closely together. They are friendly, close-knit teams who share ideas and contribute to improving the support offering for our client base. 

UK Eligibility: To be eligible for our UK Summer Internship program you must have the right to work full-time now and in the future. We currently do not offer visa sponsorship, however we do run our programs in a number of locations across the globe and welcome you to consider those that are relevant to you.

You may be considered for multiple suitable roles throughout this process. If these roles fall within the same stream, you will be assessed during the same process. If the roles fall across multiple streams, you may be asked to complete different assessments aligned to those roles.
