Job summary

The Red Hat Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) team is looking for a Data Science Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. for the summer of 2020 In this role, you will deliver strategy, solutions, and governance designed to support all Red Hatters in taking action based on data. You’ll help our team deliver business impacting data science outputs. You’ll work closely with other data scientists to analyze data, build statistical models, and work to put these models into production. As a Data Science Intern, you will use tools like Python, R, and Domino to perform your work.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with multiple datasets to extract insights and prepare data for modeling
  • Effectively communicate findings and insights from data
  • Build statistical models and push them into production
  • Document models using standard templates
  • Meet with stakeholders to understand data science requirements

Required skills

  • Ability to work full-time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level program related to the internship
  • Experience working with one or more tools like Python, R, or SAS
  • Basic SQL skills used to extract data from various database sources like Amazon Redshift, etc.
  • Proven ability to communicate with stakeholders and document requirements
  • Deep knowledge of advanced analytical methods like chi-square automatic interaction detection (CHAID), regression, deep learning, latent class, etc.
  • Solid writing skills for creation of new content and editing the work of others
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed and agile teams
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Background in statistics and quantitative analysis; graduate-level courses are a plus
