The family of the late John Evans Whigham, an alumnus of the University, has created a scholarship in his name to support 2nd Year Engineering Academy students studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. The ambition of the fund is to assist students to reach their full potential.

Second year students studying on the Engineering Academy programme in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering who meet one of the University’s Widening Participation Categories are eligible to apply and the scholarship is worth £2,000 per annum up to a maximum of four years.

Number of scholarships Up to two per annum.

Value £2,000 per annum up to a maximum of four years.

Eligibility

Second year students studying on the Engineering Academy programme in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering who meet one of the University’s Widening Participation Categories. Only open to students who are applying for or are undertaking a summer placement.

Students who do not achieve satisfactory academic grades or are not applying for or undertaking appropriate placements may not have the funding continued in subsequent years.
