Scope of Position:

  • The project will involve laboratory simulations and experiments to understand and improve a process or product. You will have daily interactions with other engineers and laboratory personnel. In this project, you could support of any of Corning’s businesses. 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • You will provide technical support to an engineering or development project that is metallurgical in nature.
  • As a summer intern, you will be working under the direction of one or several engineers.
  • You will have specific project responsibilities, but will be working as part of a team. 

Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:

  • Monday-Friday 8-5pm 

Required Education:

  • We require a Junior level or higher, pursuing a degree in Materials Engineering – Metals Emphasis 

Required Skills:

  • At least 3 years of materials engineering studies with a metals emphasis.
  • Technical curiosity
  • Hands on laboratory and mechanical abilities
  • Good documentation and analysis skills
  • Computer skills such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint Presentation, etc. 

Desired Skills:

  • Problem solving abilities
  • Ability to organize work
  • Self-motivated 

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to prepare and give presentations
  • Good interpersonal skills
