Description

  •  Conduct research in Digital Rock Physics project
  • Excellent understanding of pore scale physics
  • Develop new physics and numerical models in Total’s in-house pore scale simulators
  • Perform validation studies on the developed software
  • Initiate studies / analyses to resolve technical issues
  • Develop, and enhance contacts with Company staff in France and elsewhere, for the execution of projects.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance professional and academic contacts outside the Company
  • Monitor technical aspects of contracted research that fall within speciality.
  • Integrate new models developed by academic partners into internal codes.
  • Publish and report research results internally and externally both in written form in technical reports and professional journals and as presentations at internal and external professional and academic conferences and seminars.
  • Produce all work to high quality and on time whilst accepting individual responsibility for the activities.
  • Contribute actively to the exchange of ideas and knowledge within a research multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and support to intern students undertaking research projects as part of post-graduate degree courses.

The Research reservoir engineer has an important role to play in the development of new reservoir engineering techniques within the Company.

Candidate profile 

  • Preferably PhD in pore scale simulation or MSc with relevant experience
  • Strong coding skills (C++ or Fortran)
  • Knowledge of parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP)
  • Excellent understanding of pore scale physics
  • Knowledge of image segmentation and processing is desired
  • Knowledge and expertise in areas relavant to our research requirements such as pore network modelling, computational fluid dynamics, and numerical analysis
  • Presentation and report-writing skills
  • Communication skills
