We are looking for a graduate to work with our Technology Consultancy and Operations teams in our Manchester City Centre office. ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems)
Jacobs is a leading service provider in the ITS market supporting projects at all stages from initial conception through to maintenance, across the UK and internationally. Recent ITS projects have included Queensferry Crossing in Scotland and Highways England’s Smart Motorway Programme.
ITS solutions can provide enhanced performance and improved network safety through the application of simple technology such as traffic signals and matrix signs, through to the most sophisticated traffic surveillance and control systems available for smart motorway installations. Jacobs provides support for a wide range of clients including government departments, local authorities and major contractors.
Technology Consultancy and Operations
You will be involved in the design and delivery of a wide range of technology related projects and activities for various high-profile clients across the UK. Our work includes network analysis, using data to truly understand network issues and their cause; development of operational concepts to resolve issues; developing technology solutions for issues; understanding the implications of CAV and preparing clients and the network and; writing technical reports for clients.
Training and Experience
You will be working towards an accredited Honours or Master’s degree, preferably with some transport elements, ideally 2(i) or above.
You will be confident to analyse data, produce clearly presented reports and have a clear communication style. Experience of GIS systems is also desirable.
You will hold an accredited MEng in Civil Engineering or an Engineering related degree with with some understanding of ITS
Relevant work experience would also be advantageous although not essential
Strong mathematical skills
Strong computer software skills
Excellent written and oral communication
