JOB SUMMARY

The Actuarial Intern(s) at TriNet will assist the Actuarial Team in achieving the financial goals of TriNet and its Insurance Services Department. Interns will utilize their technical and problem-solving capabilities to assist in claims projections, competitive pricing and ad hoc assignments. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Medical, dental and vision IBNR Reserve estimation and analysis with a high degree of accuracy and predictability.
  • Assist Actuarial team in development and timely updates to in-house actuarial tools. 
  • Assist Actuarial team in development and update of actuarial database to improve productivity and efficiency. 
  • Use Actuarial statistics to perform analysis on pricing, claims and financial performance to determine competitiveness and pricing recommendations.
  • Assist Actuarial team with ad hoc assignments.
  • Intern may be required to present their work to senior management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

  • Junior or senior undergrad or graduate students with a declared major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or other quantitative subjects preferred
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in core major classes 

Experience: 

  • Previous relevant internship/work experience preferred
    • Academic leadership or extra-curricular activity involvement preferred
  • 1 Exam required, 2+ Exams preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong attention to detail
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and statistical packages such as SAS preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
    • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
    • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
    • Ability to adapt to a fast paced continually changing business and work environment while managing multiple priorities
    • Prior Experience with small group medical helpful but not required
