We are looking for the highest quality candidates that will receive the most benefit from a Sky Women in Technology Scholarships. We would ask that candidates are able to clearly demonstrate the following:
✓ Technology excellence. We would like you to demonstrate examples of previous work relating to technology (any discipline) and show that you have the necessary skills (tech or otherwise) to complete your project to a high standard.
✓ Originality and creativity – ideas need to be unique and engaging and all your own work (though they can name co-creators or collaborators).
✓ Passion for technology and commitment to a career in the tech industry – the aim of the scholarship is to give you the tools and development opportunities you need to forge a career in technology. We are hoping to support women who are committed to their discipline and will continue to work in tech beyond their scholarship project.
✓ Relevance we are particularly interested ideas which focus on social impact, sustainability and innovation in the media and entertainment industry. Your project can be in any discipline of technology (e.g. digital, VR, AI, robotics, broadcast engineering, software development…..) Whatever your idea we ask you to explain why it would make a difference.
✓ Accountability - have a clear plan as to how the funding will be spent. The funding can be used to support the project or any specific training requirements, but only a half of the money may be used to support living costs. Applicants will be required to provide regular updates on budget spending
✓ Clearly demonstrate how and why you would benefit from the scholarship – referring to training, mentoring as well as financial support, and also identify areas for wider support that Sky can assist with e.g. marketing, PR, budgeting
