Summer program Life Science Physics


Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) invites applications for Summer Students' Programme in which students participate in research and developmental work that are of interest in SINP. This programme is normally offered from the first week of May to the first week of June (approximately 8 weeks). Admitted candidates would be provided with a daily allowance for the duration of their stay (up to a maximum of 60 days) and TA (up to sleeper class equivalent train fare) as per rules. Limited hostel facilities for the outstation candidates are available.

Areas of research in SINP: Biophysics and structural Genomics, Chemical Sciences, Computational Science, Crystallography & Molecular Biology, Condensed Matter Physics, High Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics, Plasma Physics, Surface Physics and material Science, Theoretical Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology.Further details of research activities can be found in the SINP webpage.

Eligibility: First-year M.Sc. or equivalent B. Tech (at the completeion of 3rd year). students with excellent academic records in Physical/Chemical/ Life Sciences are encouraged to apply. The applicants doing an integrated M.Sc. should have completed at least 3 years. Only those candidates whose academic interests overlap with areas being pursued in SINP will be considered.

How to apply: Interested persons should apply on-line by accessing the on-line application form. Take a print out of the application for your record. Please note that a recommendation letter is mandatory for applying for this programme. The recommender will get an automatic email for us after the application is done. After short-listing of the names of the candidates are done, the photocopies of mark sheets and other supporting documents will be required (by email ONLY) for verification.
