Pathology Specimen Reception Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 3) Permanent, full time position x 2

The Pathology Specimen Reception department has two vacancies for diligent and methodical Reception Medical Laboratory Assistant’s (Band 3) to work 37.5 hours per week

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS organisations in England. Our hospitals cover large areas of East London and are St. Bartholomew’s in the City of London, The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, Mile End Hospital, Newham University Hospital in Plaistow and Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone. The successful candidates would be expected to work on any of our sites, depending on the needs of the service.

The department provides a 24/7 service to support the hospital services. We are looking for people with a positive attitude to working in a flexible manner. The successful candidates will be committed to supporting the clinical services of the Trust and meeting the needs of our patients by participating in the shift system to cover early, late, weekend and bank holiday rosters. Some occasional night duties may also be required.

The successful candidates will have effective communication and customer care skills, excellent IT and keyboard skills and proven experience of working in a busy and demanding environment. GCSE’s or equivalent in English, Maths and Science are essential. Previous NHS experience is essential and experience of working within a laboratory based environment is advantageous. The ability to work with minimal supervision and to be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.

Please note this position is based within the Pathology Reception Service and it is not a BMS Training post. Therefore, a degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent is not required for this post.
