Privitar is a rapidly growing VC-backed company based in London, building software to enable the safe and ethical use of valuable data for analytics and machine learning. We work with large organisations worldwide in financial services, telecommunications, pharma and government, enabling them to get the most out of data without compromising on privacy and security.
Privitar is pioneering the new enterprise software category of Privacy Engineering to serve this emerging business need and address a social issue of growing importance.
We are now offering paid internships for talented students who want to experience working in a high calibre software engineering team. You will work directly on our core technology and contribute to design, coding and automated testing. We tackle hard data security and data anonymisation problems.
We are looking for interns who want to experience the variety and fast pace of a dynamic startup and relish the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the direction and success of a young company. We’re able to offer an environment that would be meaningful to undergraduate, masters or PhD students.
We are currently not able to consider international students from those not currently based in the UK.


  • Enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics)

  • You are in the 3rd year of University, or have already completed an undergraduate degree.

  • Able to work full time for a period of 3-6 months between undergraduate, masters or PhD study, or during a summer break of a degree program.

  • Proficiency in Java

  • Good communication skills

  • Currently based in the UK

  • You are passionate about software engineering!


  • Interest in the Data Privacy space

  • Experience of multithreading or concurrent programming

  • Exposure to Big Data technologies, for example: Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra

  • Knowledge of SQL and relational database technology

  • Understanding of software security and threat models

  • Experience with Amazon AWS and other cloud platforms
