Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Junior Scientist/Engineer to join our team in Durham, NC. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide support to the daily operations and staff members in the Durham, NC, office; Approximately half of the support will be provided to the Environmental Compliance Branch and half to the USDA BioPreferred Program
  • Specific environmental compliance tasks will include traveling to job sites to gather environmental compliance data via personnel interviews, records review, and/or direct measurement; In-office tasks may vary greatly and include analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing technical data for reports and presentations, writing technical memorandums and reports, and reviewing and summarizing related environmental regulations
  • Specific BioPreferred Program tasks will include identifying products for inclusion in the BioPreferred Program, assisting industry representatives with the completion of documentation necessary to register their products under the program, assisting USDA with processing product applications, helping to develop regulations to govern the program, marketing the program to industry and consumers, and assisting with editing, fact-checking, and production of reports describing the economic impact of biobased products

Skills / Qualifications

  • Recent master’s or bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or similar field)
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and switch gears quickly
  • Ability to work with or without extensive oversight
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to communicate complex regulatory or scientific information to clients and the general public
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment
  • Must pass drug screening, background check, and physical exam
