(6 month internship paid at National Minimum Wage)
WIRED has an editorial internship vacancy. These fixed-term, six-month, paid internships are a rare and valuable opportunity to participate in both magazine and digital journalism, contributing to all aspects of WIRED’s broad remit. Both roles cover the same areas and responsibilities.
The intern will work in WIRED’s central London office and be tasked with contributing stories for print, online, video and podcasts. Previous WIRED interns have gone on to attain full-time positions at CNN, the New Statesman, The Telegraph, The Independent and VICE.
Interns are actively involved in generating ideas for all of WIRED’s sections, pitching and writing stories as required, researching and fact-checking, liaising with contributors, conducting and transcribing interviews, participating in video shoots and performing other tasks across the brand’s digital, print and live platforms.
We are looking for energetic, driven individuals who can show evidence of being committed to journalism as a career. Candidates must demonstrate a close familiarity with the magazine and website, and understand its particular editorial and design requirements. A passion for technology, science and culture is an absolute must. Knowledge of publishing systems, Adobe InDesign and InCopy is advantageous. Experience writing original copy for a print or online publications, along with commissioning and shooting video is, naturally, also preferable, although not essential.
