Reporting to the Sr. Financial Analyst, the Financial Analyst Intern will provide opportunities to assist the financial and data intelligence team in leveraging data to guide corporate strategy for a fun, innovative startup located in Cottonwood Heights. The ideal candidate will have a passion for using data to predict financial trends and asses the value of market opportunities, ultimately providing Upwell with the insight needed to create a corporate strategy that will accelerate revenue and market expansion. This role requires the ability to leverage predictive modeling technologies and to find creative ways to extract insights from data—it is ideal for mathematics majors and other disciplines centered around analytical thinking and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Working in concert with the finance team, build market-sizing models to help asses market opportunities
  • Extract insights to create recommendations to accelerate revenue and drive market expansion
  • Identify interesting market and data-driven insights that can be leveraged by editorial and brand teams to create thought leadership
  • Examine existing data to surface revenue opportunities within our current member base for new therapies or within our current formulary of prescription drugs against new audiences

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in finance, mathematics, economics, computer science, or another research-heavy field
  • Proficient in RStudio and/or Python, SQL, excel (some VBA preferred)
  • Tableau, PowerBI, or Adaptive Insights (preferred)
  • Top performer who loves to solve problems and has a high level of curiosity
  • Willing to tackle work in ways that are contrary to typical approaches
  • Strong organizational skills, with extreme attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player who has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment 
  • Able to commit to a part-time job that is not limited to a single semester
