Are you passionate about the Open Web? Do you want to help protect the Internet’s tremendous socioeconomic benefits through policy and advocacy? Mozilla works with our users and developers to provide products and services that make the Web more robust, and takes action when the Open Web is threatened. We engage in public policy matters when and where Mozilla can make a difference through both advancing and defending the Web. Our Internet policy portfolio is diverse and includes a broad range of issues and geographies. So it’s impossible to predict what you’ll be working on in advance, but as a Policy Intern at Mozilla you will… Research and analyze complex Internet public policy issues. Plan strategies and initiatives to create measurable change. Help the policy team track and monitor policy issues that could affect Mozilla and relate to our mission and manifesto, and make recommendations on positions on these issues. Develop and draft policy messaging and framing for external audiences including policy makers, NGOs and other key groups. Participate in strategic coalitions and organizations to help advance the image and visibility of Mozilla. Your Professional Profile Ideally, you’re a graduate student in law, computer science, public policy, or political science, with some interest in all four of those areas, with a graduation date starting December 2019 and onward. But maybe you’re an undergraduate instead! You should have a deep understanding of the Open Web, its history and what makes it work. You should have some level of technical depth as well as familiarity with applicable technology-related policy issues as well as legal and regulatory environments. We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic and stellar interpersonal and communication skills. We want you to be able to talk to and work with a range of individuals at Mozilla and other organizations, and to come up with ideas and execute them with lightweight management and guidance (but ample support!).
