Our Research

The “Geeky Girl Reality” is a not-for-profit research study funded by Ad Hoc Global LTD. This study is focused on learning the experiences of women entering the science and technology fields. Initially, this project began focusing on women who are enrolled in University. We have surpassed our respondent goal on the student survey and our research is now statistically significant.

Following the success of our student survey: we have created the professionals survey, which aims to understand the ambitions and obstacles of women in the midst of their careers within science and technology.

What the survey results tell us

The results from our research and online community discussions suggest that more opportunities, internships, events and mentors are needed to help girls develop and maintain a passion for STEM. In response we have created a website which aims to be a hub for all ‘things’ STEM related for women. We want to build an online space where women can access support, mentorship, opportunities and connect with peers.

How we are funded

Currently funded by Ad Hoc Global. The Geeky Girl Reality is handled as an independent research project.  

  • Ad Hoc Global donates the time of senior and junior researchers. Research Interns apply to the project as volunteers, they:

    • work as a virtual team

    • promote the surveys

    • analyse data and add insights

    • handle our social media channels

    • help to shape grow the community, globally

  • Trustees help to oversee the project and keep us on mission

 About the trustees

We have a growing Advisory Board of Trustees who are senior, professional women in STEM related careers or with a passion for promoting STEM careers.  

Our Trustees:
